Latest Site News, as of
Images (21 August 2005)
There have been quite a few tweaks and updates with logos etc. It has got the point where I think I've forgotten what most of the updates have been.
One worth pointing out is the logo. Hopefully you'll notice the hints of the Union flag (Jack) peaking through the new logo.
Headlines (8 April 2003)
Finally I've found a source for news feeds and they don't charge. This section will keep on growing on the site.
Cosmetics (25 March 2003)
This time the fixes are cosmetic changes. The top bar now highlights that there are reviews in the "News" section and because I'm using frames each page in the bottom right hand corner has a link to the main page and © symbol [for what that's worth :-) ].
On-line contact form (9 January 2003)
Well today I now have an On-line contact form, which works! With no need to rely on having an email program open or available, it is now possible to contact me from the website. Thanks to Mark Pike for fixing my ASP problem. I knew it was possible somehow, I just wasn't sure what was available on the server.
Well I still have more things to complete on my list of future improvements, but that one was the biggie.
Site content updates continue with the Charts and Films sections. I guess you must have noticed the snow falling on the pages by now [I must get around to taking that down at some point].
Frames & JavaScript (18 September 2002)
My decision to use frames has certainly left me with a few challenges. Where I thought it was going to make life easier and the site better to maintain, other problems cropped up. I decided that using "directories/folders" to file things away would be tidier, but it just opened another can of worms of Javascript challenges.
I think I will eventually get closer to the goal of using frames to remove the need for heavily coded templates. I will find the right balance of frame templates to Javascript commands.
Keep watching this space.
Updates (TOS) (12 September 2002)
Well the usual things have been updated and a few things tweaked. I've registered the site with a few search engines, so we'll just see if the site stats starting showing any referrals soon.
I've got a list of future improvements I'd like to see to the site, so we'll see when they come on-line.
  • An On-line contact form
  • Up-to-date news service
  • A site search facility
  • Guest book
I've been reading up about Internet copyright law, including terms and conditions of service. I'm sure this is a fairly boring subject for most, but quite essential. Reading HTML Goodies got me started thinking about it. So far I've visited : Yahoo!, 590 VOCM, 100.7 Heart FM. I've ended up with a 7 page "Terms & Conditions" of service, which seems pretty sad really (sarc)! Anyway it will end up appearing in the "contact" section as soon as it has been checked and amended.
Going live... (3 September 2002)
Well today's the day! The site went up last night and it's time to flick the final re-direction switch to the new front page. The finished product is "Version 9" of the site with the main differences form previous versions being, that it looks better and I've cut a lot of JavaScript out from the last one. By using this different code design, it is now easier to bookmark pages and people won't find their browsers going belly up :-)
Site search no longer available + more (28 August 2002)
The site is almost complete, thanks to everyone who has been testing the alpha version and finding those bugs for me. I seem to have gone overboard with the javascript, so sorry if it isn't working properly for you! Since changing service provider the CGI functions went down the pan, along with the contact submit form and site search functions. We'll see if we can get something else working in the future.
Site expansion (5 August 2002)
Well, having not touched the site in a while, it's left me some time to think about future developments. I'm not 100% happy with it yet, but it's getting there.
I've made better use of tables to allow for content to follow better, in the left and right hand panes. The news section has been expanded and the Charts updated from the last 2 months [blimey it's been that long!].
I'm now looking at switching to my own domain and having a half decent e-mail address!

Site search available (6 May 2002)
Well most of the site now has content including the bio section.
I've been finding out about javascript and CGI. This has led to the addition of many different things, not all of them working how I would like them to. The site now has a search facility, which should make the site slightly more useful and easier to find those track details. I don't know whether the contact thing is working properly as I have yet to receive a message through it! But the date and "multiple-frames" scripts seem to work quite well.
Website takes shape (1 May 2002)
After much effort and fiddling a semi-decent site has been constructed.
There will be regular updates to the Music/Charts section and some fine tweaking of other places.
This blurb is also being used to test the news section.
